William Dye

William Dye was born 7/6/ 1718 in Staten Island, New York. He was the son of John Laurens Dey and Sara Hance Vincent Fontaine. William Dye died 9-8-1784 in Perth Amboy, Middlesex Co., New Jersey.

From Regina Berry: "Will of John Dey; New Jersey Colonial Archives ; will dated 1 October 1750, proved 8 March 1750/1. Names wife Margaret Salter b. 8/8/1720 d.6-16-1777 and children :

1. William Dye - born in 1740 and died in 1806. Married Phoebe Mounteer

   William and Phoebe Dye's Children were:

   Mounteer Dye - born c. 1782. Married Elsey Glenn 12-11-1798.

   Ruth Dye - born c. 1784. Married Robert Glenn 5-12-1795.

   Polly Dye - born c. 1784. Married ____ Foreman .

   Abigail Dye - born c. 1785. Married Peter Dye 4-20-1804

2. John Dye born 5-17-1754 in Plainfield, NJ, d. 1-15-1822 in Orangeburg, KY, married Anna (Nancy) Ely (there is some disagreement as to the name of John's wife) b. 1762, d. 7-9-1821

3. Kenneth Dye born 1756 in Plainfield, NJ, d. 1817 in Mason County, KY, married Jane Vanderbeck and later Phebe Dye in 1815. ( The widow of his brother, William.)

   William had a brother named David Dey who married Hanna Disbrow.
